About Jeanette Chase

Jeanette Chase was a member of the Bay Area Chorus from 1972 to 2019 and served as president from 2012 to 2019.  Her leadership also included substantial financial support over the years.  Ms. Chase has more than 60 years of professional experience: She has been a private voice teacher since 1977 and a synchronized swimming competitor, coach, teacher, official, and judge since 1956.

In addition, she was director of music at Webster Presbyterian Church from 1972 to 2001, a voice teacher with Lee College from 1992 to 2004, and a voice teacher and choral director with San Jacinto College from 1977 to 1993. From 1976 to 1977, she was a member of the Houston Grand Opera Chorus.  Ms. Chase had a nursing career from 1957 to 1969 with various physicians and hospitals.

In honor of her dedication and achievements, the Bay Area Chorus is establishing this scholarship for outstanding graduate students in the field of choral music and arts leadership at the University of Houston.
